Munger Place Home Tour

Munger Place Architecture Tour

A pocket of streets in Dallas’s east side is a neighborhood named Munger Place Historic District. Developed with a distinct style in mind, these home boast 10 and 20 foot ceilings in the Prairie style of architecture. Prairie School style architecture typical traits are horizontal lines, flat or hipped roofs and broad eaves. Windows are assembled in horizontal bands.  Prairie School style was popularized by Frank Lloyd Wright. The construction and craftsmanship are rich and include subtle and detailed decorations.

I was asked to donate my Architectural photography services for this years Munger Place Wine Walk.

As you will see in the building photos and certainly on the tour, these well-preserved homes are impressive, when viewing for the street they look down on you with their grandeur and dominance.

Don’t miss this year’s Wine Walk and tour of homes in the historic district on April 1st. For more information check out

On a recent spring trip to New Orleans, I hopped aboard the St Charles Trolly to the Garden District, it’s a quick and scenic 15-minute ride out of the French Quarter. The Garden District is home to some of the most impressive Greek Revival and Second Empire homes in America. Above is a photograph from my walk on 1st street and Prytania  ( 2343 Prytania St ). Former Home to Bradish Johnson an American industrialist who owned plantations and sugar refineries in Louisiana. Now home to McGehee School for Girls. Built in 1872 in the Second Empire Style by Architect James Freret. Several times a year this home can be toured in one the Garden District home tours. Don’t miss a walk through this jaw-dropping New Orleans neighborhood ( Photography by Aaron Dougherty Dallas, Tx )

Back from a wonderful trip in Italy. I was fortunate to visit Lake Como during a rainy week. The damp weather really created a dream-like setting out of the already unbelievable Northern Italian landscape. Incredible place to visit! View images: Spring in Lake Como
